Mainland is an easy-learning strategy game that is played with 2, 3 or 4 players. To secure the future of your clan in a new chaotic world, you must place your cards to create and expand territories. Your Mainland is your largest territory. To accumulate as many points as possible at the end of the game (and dominate the world) you must maximize your Mainland and try to include valuable cards. Therefore, the goal of the game is also to block the territorial expansion of your opponents and to prevent the development of their Mainland.
Mainland is a pictographic matching game. Each card your play must overlap the items on the board. Fields over fields, forests over forests and mountains over moutains. Rotate the card to find the perfect match!
Some lands produce resources that will help you to build villages.
Villages lead to stronger items such as towers, warriors, riders and castles.
The castle is the strongest item. This card can be placed anywhere. Use it to link a remote territory to your Mainland or break the Mainland of a threatening opponent!
"Grass and trees will spread all around the world. Your little existence does not interest us."
"You are not welcome in the dry steppes of the arid lands. Stay outside or prepare to be destroyed."
"Our clan will soon dominate the world. Whoever dares to challenge us will be annihilated."
"We are not looking for battle, but we urge you not to threaten us. Our warriors cannot be defeated."
Hello everyone. My name is Martin and I’m from Quebec City, Canada. I started working on Mainland early in 2017. Since board games design is not my full-time job, I spent many months developing and testing my prototypes. Final rules have been set at the end of the summer. I’m now proud to share my game to the world. If you think Mainland is a good idea, please help me to make it real and support my Kickstarter campaign. First, the funds received will be used to complete my game, improve the art design and print copies that I could send to reviewers and publishers. If the Kickstarter campaign is very successful, I will be able to invest more time and money into my project and eventually start mass production of the game. I also see this campaign as a good opportunity to gain visibility and credibility in the world of board games.
